RN Registered Nurse - Stroke Coordinator

Summary:

The Stroke Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and coordination of a program that delivers standardized care to stroke patients across the continuum of care. Collects and reviews data to identify trends for benchmarking and performance improvement. Works collaboratively with Hospital and Medical Staff to lead stroke performance improvement and certification activities in a manner that promotes a culture of learning and patient safety.

Responsibilities:

* Coordinates resources effectively to identify patients with suspected or confirmed stroke and follows through appropriately with patient care, medical, and administrative staff

* Identifies trends, consults and educates staff, and physicians to stroke management processes in order to deliver quality patient care.

* Responsible for concurrent and retrospective chart review of patients in the stroke population

* Serves as content expert for hospital staff, providers, patients, families and the community

Medical City North Hills is an award-winning 164-bed acute care hospital located in the heart of northeast Tarrant County in North Richland Hills. The hospital has over 300 physicians and 30 medical specialties. The ER has about 39,000 visits each year and is a Level III Trauma Center. Additionally, we are a Primary Stroke Center, perform spine surgery and joint replacements and have a comprehensive cardiovascular services department. Our hospital is an accredited Cycle 5 Chest Pain Center with a cardiac rehabilitation program.

Qualifications

Education:

* Associates (ADN) required

* Bachelor's (BSN) preferred

License / Certification:

* Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of TX or compact license (if compact, TX required within 30 days of hire)

Experience:

* Minimum of two years clinical experience in the medical or surgical management of the stroke patient eg medical/surgical care, emergency department experience, neuro-intensive care, or endovascular care
